Every retirement calculator asks the same question: How long will your money last?
None of them ask the better question: Would it last longer somewhere else?
That’s the gap we built the GenXit Retirement Calculator to close. As far as we can find, it’s the only retirement calculator built specifically to run your real numbers against the U.S. and more than 60 other countries side by side, instead of stopping at one answer for one zip code.
Here’s what that looks like in practice, using the calculator’s own example numbers. In our example a household planning on $70,000 a year in retirement spending runs out of money at 79 if they stay in the U.S. Apply Thailand as the destination, and that same $70,000 a year drops to about $39,550 once the discount kicks in. The shortfall disappears, and instead of running out, the plan comfortably outlasts the household.
Same household, same savings, same everything else. The only variable that changed was the country.
Most retirement tools completely ignore location. And to be fair most people do not consider improving their life by changing their time zone. But we are built a little differently, so we built this tool a little differently. We built it around this idea: location is the biggest lever most people never pull, and you should be able to see that in your own numbers, not just read about it in someone else’s success story.
You don’t need to sign up for anything. We made this tool for ourselves on excel and then decided after sharing with friends that a web version would be easier. Enter your numbers, run the plan where you are now, then pick a country and watch it change. If you want the full report (more stress tests, a side-by-side of four destinations, a timeline of your key ages), it’s free too. We just ask for an email and first name, mostly to keep spam bots from hammering the tool.
A full video walkthrough is coming soon. For now, go run your own numbers and see where your money actually goes further.
